Intonation is sometimes described as the music of speech. It is a good description which refers to how we sound when we put words together, just as music is the combination of individual notes.
The best way to sound more natural is to not only practise pronunciation but also to focus on how native speakers use intonation. A good place to start is with the schwa, also known as the weak form.
