Course Profile: English with Sketching Group
English for Sketching courses combine working in a small general English group in the mornings in our school to help you develop your speaking and listening communication skills. Reflecting real world and workplace multi-level communication scenarios, learn how to communicate effectively across different cultures and differing levels of English. Maximum 5 students per group.
What to expect in the speaking & listening group:
- Practise your conversation and communication skills, including; turn-taking, interaction patterns, listening habits, and small talk
- Carry out discussion, problem-solving, and presentation tasks
- Discuss general and work related topics as well as group requests
After coffee break in the school, you will go with your teacher to different locations in Edinburgh to sketch, draw or paint. You will continue with plenty of speaking and listening practise throughout the afternoon. The group will have lunch and language review together with the teacher.
We believe that all opportunities to improve your communication skills are valuable, getting out of the classroom offers different input and natural language situations.
Please note you will be accompanied by a professional English teacher who enjoys sketching, painting and drawing. Your teacher is an enthusiastic sketcher with experience of drawing outdoors in Edinburgh, and a good knowledge of places where you can sit down and absorb the city. She will keep your English precise but will leave you to your own art projects.
What to expect in the English with Sketching class:
- practise your English in a different environment
- do the things you love, but do them in English
- expand your vocabulary in a natural setting
- keep practising small talk
- view Edinburgh from a different perspective. Visit streets, urban nature, waterways and indoor options, as required
Please note the speaking & listening group is a multi-level class for B1 to C1 participants. We believe this reflects real world multi-level communication scenarios
