ECS Scotland has a small network of local hosts. Please book as far in advance as possible if you wish to stay with a local host.
Homestay accommodation means living in a local home, and it is one of the best ways to ensure you make the most of your time practising English outside the classroom. It is also a good way to get to know the way of life and culture of Scotland and Britain.
Hosts are generally native English speakers and are a mix of couples, single people and families with children. Most homes are located approximately 45 minutes door-to-door. It is usually necessary to combine a short walk with a bus ride, all accommodation is conveniently located close to city centre bus routes.
Homestay accommodation is available from the Sunday afternoon before a course starts until the Saturday after a course finishes. Availability of extra nights is not guaranteed but may be possible outside the peak season (July and August). Please check with us at the time of booking.

Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel
- Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel is part of the Hosteling International group. If you have international membership, you can receive discounted rates on your stay. This hostel is located approximately 20 minutes walk from ECS Scotland and offers private rooms and shared rooms. Use of the kitchen is available or enjoy meals in their restaurant.

- Fancy staying on a barge? These two houseboats can be rented as self-catering accommodation. 15 minutes walk to the school and centre of Edinburgh.

Airport transfers
Airport transfers from Edinburgh Airport to accommodation can be arranged at the cost of £75 each way. Please inform the school at the time of booking. Collection from other airports is available on request.
It is very easy to get from the airport to Edinburgh city centre by public transport. There are public taxis outside the terminal, a regular bus service and a tram service.
